This beautiful dance form is originated from Sherdukpens, a small community of Arunachal Pradesh. And it depicts the triumph of good over. The community believes that there are both good and evil in mankind.
But why Animal masks?
Dancers adorn different animal masks to show an act of fighting the evil forces.
While animal masks, which according to a popular belief symbolises the twelve evil animals that appear every year, is appealing and eye catching, it is the upbeat music which makes this dance vibrant. The beats of the cymbals and drums can make anyone feel like dancing.
Sadly this dance form cannot be learnt by people not part of the tribe.
